STUDENTS DESIGN ASSISTIVE DEVICES

Our second-year students have just completed a 12-week co-design journey. Together with local users with different abilities, they created unique assistive devices that enable participation in meaningful activities such as swimming and gaming.
Some processes cannot be accelerated: building trust, developing empathy, and fostering a sense of ownership all take time.
The basic language of co-design is prototyping and discovering unexpected insights together. Users are often unable to immediately put into words what they know, need, or feel. Through the language of prototypes, designers and users rapidly grow closer and develop a shared understanding.
The ultimate achievement of an open design project is sharing your design with the community. A D4E1 Fair always has a magical moment. Something you never quite get used to, even after all these years. Thank you to all visitors for your enthusiastic attendance and support. Together, you helped celebrate the power of co-design, inclusion, and positive design.
Building plans will be shared soon!
