INTERIOR MEETS PRODUCT DESIGN

Would you like to learn how to design interior objects yourself and shape spaces in a smart and tasteful way? In the elective track Interior Product Design, you will discover how furniture, interior elements, and space enhance one another into functional, aesthetic, and meaningful overall concepts. An interior truly works well only when layout, materials, and use are in balance.
You will get hands-on in a creative and practical way: you come up with ideas and turn them into feasible, sustainable solutions and products. You experiment with form, material, light, color, texture, and finishing, and you learn to design by analyzing, testing, and developing your ideas technically.
Programme:

You enter a renewed, up-to-date program that responds to new trends in interior design and society. To understand the program, you start from the listed jobs and design roles, linked to five design pillars, each with its own color. In the first year, you lay the foundation: you develop your creativity, practice prototyping and drawing skills, learn to (re)recognize materials, construction, and execution techniques, and study form in relation to use and interior contexts. From the second year onward, you work more in teams.

You design objects and spaces that are functional, ergonomic, and full of character, ranging from custom-made pieces to flexible series. In addition to specific applications for public and private spaces and work environments, future-oriented living plays an important role: you learn to design smart, modular furniture and interiors that adapt to changing lifestyles, making living environments compact, flexible, and sustainable.
The elective track Interior Product Design is ideal for those who want to combine creativity with technology, sustainability, and design, and create interior concepts ready for the living environments of tomorrow.
You might even bring your own product to market or win a design award!
With a strong design methodology and an expanding set of design tools, you tackle larger and more complex projects. You develop ideas ergonomically, sustainably, and technically into well-founded, circular, future-oriented, and feasible solutions. In the passion project, you explore a unique interest or area of expertise, alongside your internship search.
In the third year, the focus is on practice, entrepreneurship, strategic and future-oriented thinking, project execution, and market launch of interior products. You work interdisciplinarily and increasingly independently with experts from other fields. You refine your unique profile in an elective focused on either spatial design or detailed product design.

Prefer to work on all-round consumer goods or industrial applications instead? Then choose IPO Industrial. Here, you develop all kinds of everyday objects, such as office solutions, transport or assistive devices, medical or safety equipment,
wearables, energy solutions, packaging, material applications, or smart product-services. You think critically about problems and solutions, and you develop these products in detail—either from an engineering perspective or with a focus on an optimal, tactile user experience.
