Student Davey Verduyn Wins International SIT Furniture Design Award with ‘LOW STOOL’
We are proud to announce that Davey Verduyn, a student in the Bachelor Industrial Product Design – elective course Interior Design, has won a SIT Furniture Design Award in the international Furniture Design - Student category with his project LOW STOOL. The prestigious SIT Awards highlight outstanding furniture design from across the globe and recognize both established professionals and emerging young designers.
The SIT Awards are evaluated by an international jury of leading designers, architects, academics, and creative experts. Entries are assessed on innovation, aesthetics, ergonomics, sustainability, and social relevance. Davey’s strong performance across these criteria reflects his creative vision and the professional maturity already present in his work.
LOW STOOL was praised for its refined simplicity, clever material use, and clear functional form. The design shows how a minimalist approach can lead to a striking and timeless piece of furniture.
“Receiving this award is incredibly motivating,” Davey says. “LOW STOOL began as an experiment with proportions, balance, and simplicity, and it’s exciting to see this exploration recognized internationally.”
The program shares this pride.
“Davey’s achievement illustrates how the combination of conceptual thinking, craft, and design rigor can lead to truly meaningful work,” the teaching team notes. “His international recognition confirms the strong design skills he has developed within the Industrial Product Design program.”
Davey’s award is a significant milestone—not only for him, but also for the Ba. Industrial Product Design – elective course Interior Design, demonstrating the creative and professional potential of its students. We look forward to following his continued growth in furniture and product design.
