Bhavya Acharya Wins Multiple Awards at the Global Footwear Award with Graduation Project VĀRI

We are thrilled to announce that our recent graduate, Bhavya Acharya, has received multiple awards at the Global Footwear Award for the graduation project VĀRI:

• Winner – Barefoot Footwear

• Winner – Other Sustainable Footwear

• Winner – 3D Print Footwear

VĀRI is a fully 3D-printed, modular shoe that combines barefoot ergonomics with traditional cobbler craftsmanship. Made entirely from TPU, the design offers interchangeable outsoles for different terrains and activities, a mono-material system for complete recyclability, and digitally optimized comfort through advanced infill patterns. This project represents a truly circular, glue-free footwear solution designed for modern lifestyles.

Bhavya’s achievement highlights the innovative spirit and commitment to sustainability fostered at Howest and supported through collaborations with the Future Footwear Foundation and School of Arts Gent. The project demonstrates how advanced technology, material efficiency, and thoughtful design can come together to create functional, eco-friendly products.
