tuftR explores how a difficult-to-recycle waste stream from the carpet industry can become a valuable resource. It focuses on discarded pieces with visual flaws or color changes, made from mixed materials like PP or PES backing and PA or wool yarns. Using a material-driven approach, tuftR maps the material’s properties, tests processing methods, develops lab prototypes, and designs new applications to show its potential.
