KELANA

Adapting asian flair for modern scandinavian furniture design

baert_obe_eindwerk.jpg

Designed in Denmark and made in Indonesia, the Kelana armchair reflects on the designer's Chinese-Indonesian cultural roots and her journey in Denmark. To bring a new voice in the world of contemporary design, her principle was developed based on a bridge between two contrasting identities: the maximal, expressive, and ornamental qualities of Southeast-Asian design with the minimal, functional, and clean lines of Scandinavian design. This answers the challenge of crafting a genuine yet commercially viable design while carrying heritage, craftsmanship, and a meaningful narrative.
